There are some very nice people here, including Noshir Contractor, who gave a great talk today. Curiously there are lots of physicists here, most of them are doing interesting research on online social networks, but some of them apparently know little about social sciences. Computational social sciences is a wonderful field to create a disciplinary mix, but one cannot skip learning what and how people from other disciplines are thinking, what language they are using, what concepts they are working with.

Érdekes témák, érdekes emberek, ide értve Noshir Contractort, bár számomra meglepő, hogy a társadalomtudós-mérnök (matematikus/fizikus/computer scientist) arány kb 4:50.

Ebből aztán fakadnak vicces jelenetek, mint például az a kedves fizikus néni, aki közösségnek nevezte egy-egy fórum-post kapcsán összeverődött anonim kommentelő társaságot, majd amikor jeleztükk neki, hogy ennél azért több kell ahhoz, hogy egy csoportot közösségként tudjunk értelmezni, annyit mondott, hogy az interneten mások a közösségek. Hmmm.
