Agnieszka Slodownik — August 27, 2012 @ 1:28 pm

Dear Bodó,

My name is Agnieszka Slodownik, and I’m working for the Polish Audiovisual Institute in Warsaw. Yearly the Institute organises the “Culture 2.0” festival focusing on various aspects of technology in culture: digitisation of archives, new media awareness, renewable potential in culture and other.

This year’s edition will take the cultural aspect of so called “citizen 2.0” and participation in culture as its theme. How can culture act through technology in favour of the citizenship? How can a community get involved in creating and creative use of its own cultural resources? How does citizenship work in art? What right does a citizen have to cultural content?

We understand the “citizen 2.0” as the citizen of the web, which defines his or her possibilities and limitations. The “Culture 2.0” festival will therefore focus on culture which is spread across the web, and saturated with technology. The latter considered as a tool enabling one’s activity and subjectivity, or a factor in social exclusion. Official art is being replaced by every day creativity, and creation is now a common act. We are cultural, as long as we’re involved.

The festival is dedicated to GLAM sector employees: teachers, culture activists, artists, culture theoreticians, IT sector and anyone interested in interactive solutions in culture.

I would like to find out if you’d be interested in taking part in the festival 26-27 October 2012. If you’re initially interested after this introductory letter, I will be happy to get to all the details and answer any questions you might have.

Kind regards,
Agnieszka Słodownik
